Summer Pre-Session
During the summer pre-session, students will participate in a “core course” component of the program designed to provide them with a comprehensive review of their undergraduate business coursework. The pre-session will expose students to foundation courses taught by Eller’s exceptional faculty in a variety of subjects including accounting, finance, statistics, operations, economics, marketing, and other building blocks of a comprehensive graduate management education experience.
This session will ensure all students start the program with knowledge upon which they can build individual student study plans and concentration areas.
Courses will be taught in blocks over a 10-week period in June and July. Each student will study the same materials in “lock-step” fashion, resulting in the creation of a close-knit learning community.

Academic Year
Following the pre-session, accelerated MBA students will pursue their individual professional and career goals through one of several concentration areas or a general management track designed to maximize flexibility. Students can also pursue advanced experiential learning opportunities, an international business experience, independent studies, or electives to round out their professional skill portfolio. Complete career development support and professional networking opportunities will assist you in achieving your career goals when you graduate.
Concentrations and Focus Areas
Acceleratred students with unique career goals or an interest in a general management approach can select courses that meet their own specific needs. Some of the more popular choices are listed below, under Selected Electives.
Concentrations
Students may also choose to develop greater depth in one of the following concentration areas:
Entrepreneurship
The McGuire Entrepreneurship Program is highly ranked and recognized for its ability to develop personal and professional attributes critical to success — in any environment — and to nurture and strengthen the capacity to move an idea from concept to commercialization. It is a great choice if you plan to make a career change directly into an entrepreneurial venture, or if you want to return to the corporate setting with a toolkit which will prepare you to innovate from within. Entrepreneurship also adds value if you are considering private equity or management consulting, or if you are entering a smaller company with a strong growth curve. Visit the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship or view application and course requirements.
Finance
The finance department at Eller provides access to a wide portfolio of courses for MBA students. A finance concentration is designed for those interested in careers including investment management, hedge funds, and private equity. It is also a good choice for those considering careers in corporate treasury, retail banking, and consumer finance. Those with solid finance backgrounds often fill management consulting jobs and corporate finance positions in other industries–for example, in mergers and acquisitions in many corporate sectors. Management Information Systems (MIS)
Management information systems (MIS) is the design and management of information technology (IT) for an organization. It focuses on the best way to enable the organization to meet its goals and business challenges. MIS professionals are the “communication bridges” between IT and the business community. They analyze, design, implement, and manage IT strategy to help solve business problems.
Enrolling in the MIS/MBA Business Intelligence and Analysis track enables you to gain a competitive edge by learning critical analysis skills and gaining real-world experience in both the business and technology fields.
For more details, view the presentation on the MIS track or view track and course requirements.
Marketing
Regardless of the industry, company, or country where you are employed, or the job function you perform, you gain a competitive advantage by enhancing your understanding of the marketing function. Increasingly, organizations are using marketing strategies, tactics, and tools to differentiate themselves and to compete in the global marketplace. The marketing concentration at Eller will strengthen your MBA education and prepare you for careers in brand management, market research, product development, or other marketing functions. Visit the Department of Marketing or view track and course requirements.
Focus Areas
Students may also choose to develop greater depth in one of the following focus areas:
Sustainable Energy
The Sustainable Energy focus area is designed for future-minded leaders interested in binding core business fundamentals with current policy and commercial issues within the industry.
