Anne Durazo, MBA '06“I feel I’m prepared to be involved in many different industries and in many different functions.” Anne Durazo earned her undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from Villanova University. After earning her Eller MBA with concentrations in marketing and operations management, she took a position in the business leadership development program at Raytheon in Tucson. Takeaways from Eller: Everyone has something to offer, so learn from them. I was impressed with how much I learned from my fellow classmates. With such a diverse class and so many opportunities to work as part of a team, I not only learned from people’s career experience, but also from people’s cultures. Looking back: I remember a supportive staff that knew the students’ names and strived to be accommodating. I remember tough assignments—but with them came caring professors who were always available. And I remember friends who are all off doing great things. On the Eller community: It’s nurturing, yet competitive. People were always willing to lend a helping hand, but there was still the motivation to perform above par. What an Eller MBA has done for me: My MBA has given me an overall understanding of business. Along with my engineering degree, I feel I’m prepared to be involved in many different industries and in many different functions. Advice for incoming MBAs: Get involved. You can read a book and teach yourself a subject without spending the money to get the degree. Take part in working groups, community events, and extra projects because networking is even more important than you think.
