Steven Permut

Department of Marketing
Dr. Steven Permut joined the Eller College faculty in 2001 after a long affiliation with Yale University School of Management, where his appointments included Associate Professor of Marketing Management and Executive Director, Advanced Programs and Executive Education, as well as Visiting Lecturer in Administration to the Yale University School of Drama. Permut earned his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.
Throughout his academic career, his primary scholarly interests have ranged from the uses of market research in litigation to marketing perspectives applied to non-profits. He was named a recipient of the Elm & Ivy Award from the President of Yale University for his volunteer work with nonprofit organizations. His academic experience also includes work abroad, where he has served on the faculty of Boston University’s Executive MBA program in Brussels, Belgium, and was Visiting Professor of Marketing at the University of Lille, France.
He has served on the editorial boards or as a reviewer to the major journals of his field, including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Consumer Marketing, and Journal of Advertising. Also active as a business professional, he has consulted with the marketing and sales organizations of nearly 50 major corporations and subsidiaries overseas, including AT&T, Bank of America, Borg-Warner, Coca-Cola, General Electric, General Motors, Prudential Securities, Rockwell International, Time Warner Communications, and US West Communications.
