Robert S. Matteucci
Adjunct Lecturer
Former CEO, Evenflo Company, Inc.
Robert S. Matteucci is the former CEO of Evenflo Company, Inc., a privately held, leading manufacturer of juvenile products in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Evenflo holds leading market share positions in feeding products (Evenflo brand), professional breastfeeding products (Ameda brand), and activity centers (Exersaucer brand), plus maintains a strong presence in car seats.
Rob led Evenflo from July 2005 to September 2009. During that time, Evenflo delivered record profit/profit margins and a strong cash position in 2006/2007, leading to a successful company sale at 3x invested capital to shareholders in 27 months. Rob also orchestrated the purchase of Ameda Breastfeeding Products in 2008, which exceeded acquisition economics in both Year I/II, providing profitable topline sales growth to the company. Following the severe global recession in 2008, the company successfully secured fresh capital and lowered debt in a financial restructuring that created a solid financial foundation for additional growth moving forward.
Prior to Evenflo, Rob enjoyed a successful career with Procter & Gamble, where he held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility over 27 years. His last assignment was Division Vice President at Clairol, Inc., where he led a record integration into P&G after a 2001 acquisition, and was head of the worldwide hair color operations. He also had a leading role in the 2004 acquisition of Wella’s professional hair care business.
Rob has vast international experience. Professionally, he worked for P&G-Venezuela and lived in Caracas with his family during the late 1980s; and subsequently, led the expansion of P&G’s hair care business into China and Eastern Europe. At Evenflo, he worked closely with Chinese suppliers, representing about one-half of Evenflo’s supply chain. Personally, he has traveled extensively to many parts of the world, gaining first-hand exposure to people with diverse backgrounds.
Rob earned MBA in Marketing/Finance from Vanderbilt University’s Owen School, and a BA in Political Science/Economics from Denison University. Rob is currently an adjunct faculty member at the Eller College of Management, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in international business. He serves as a Director for privately-held Iron City Beer, LLC, The Partnership at Drug-Free.org, and the Cincinnati Reds Community Fund. He has been married to his wife, Carla, for over 30 years, and they have two adult children, Mark and Danny.
