Meet Eller MBAs
Susan Ebbert
Eller MBA '09
Why did you choose the Eller MBA?
I was interested in a smaller MBA program where I could customize my learning experience both in and outside the classroom. At Eller I am able to choose which classes best suite my career goals, and I have had the opportunity to participate in two experiential learning projects to add real-world skills to my MBA experience.
What stands out about the Eller faculty and curriculum?
With a small program, I really have the chance to work one-on-one with my professors. With classes that are about 30 students or less I get a chance to participate in the discussions and learn from both my professors and my classmates. My favorite class has probably been business communications. It’s a chance to perfect my presentation, writing, and career-building skills. With the class being held the first semester of the first year, I was prepared for the job search that began the following fall.
What are your career goals?
With a background in network engineering, I am interested in moving into IT program management, data center management, or IT product management when I graduate and work for a large multinational company.
What is your personal takeaway with the Eller MBA?
After working for six years in the automotive industry, going back to school full-time was a chance to increase my skillset and take classes that were outside of my background. It’s been a lot of fun working on a variety of teams, riding my bike to school, and being challenged by my professors. I am currently concentrating in MIS, but I have been taking a lot of finance classes as well.
