Austria
Austria is a beautiful German-speaking country that is located in Central Europe. Austria has a population of over 8 million people, with over 1.6 million people in the capital of Vienna alone. In contrast to Vienna, which houses about a quarter of Austria’s population, the second largest city Graz has a population of 250,000 people.
Vienna
Vienna is the cultural, economic, and political center of Austria along with one of the country's nine states. Vienna is the tenth largest city in the European Union and has the third highest standard of living. Art and culture have a long tradition in Vienna, including theatre, opera, classical music, and fine arts. The Burgtheater is considered one of the best theatres in the German-speaking world alongside its branch, the Akademietheater. The Danube River runs through the city.
Commuting in Vienna
Vienna has an extensive public tram and bus network that makes the city easy to navigate. The tram network is the third-largest in the world. The convenience and flexibility of the public transport is in turn reflected by its popularity; 53% of Viennese workers travel to their workplace by public transit. During night hours, public transit is continued by the Nightline buses operating on all the main routes, generally every half hour.
